Villanueva de Sigena
Villanueva de Sigena is one of the best known towns in the region of Los Monegros (Huesca province in Aragon). It is situated on the banks of the River Alcanadre.
Its municipal area covers an area of 146 km ², with just over 500 inhabitants, giving it a population density of only 3.5 inhabitants per km ². Villanueva de Sigena has the charm of the desert, and has an important cultural legacy. El Real Monasterio de Santa María de Sigena (The Royal Monastery of Santa Maria de Sigena) shares the spotlight with the fact that the town is the birthplace of Miguel Servet. Both factors make a visit to this town a must. |
